“Change is the only thing in life that is constant, and to adapt successfully to change you need to continuously allow yourself to grow personally and professionally. Firstly, you need to identify your desires, your personal and professional aspirations. Secondly you need to make a conscious effort to engage in productive activities that are in-line with your goals. Once you have done this, you’ll find that under the pressure to achieve these milestones extraordinary results will surface”

– Jennifer Oyelade, Chief Executive Officer, Transquisite Consulting

Welcome to 2016, this year a year of acceleration. There are many things happening in Nigeria and in Africa as a whole. From emerging sectors like Agriculture taking the lead to Information Technology becoming more of a necessity than an optional sector to invest in. The Education Sector is also making its presence felt and international organisations are showing a greater interest in the development of Africa.

As these sectors develop, use the opportunity to sharpen your skills to be in line with the growing trends. Stay informed with the news and also look at what companies are doing and how your skills can be beneficial to the organisation’s corporate objectives.

In 2016, I would love to see further development in Employee Engagement. In some cases, sourcing excellent candidates can be made easy because of the lack of employee engagement. If employees are not getting the recognition for the work they do, they are left with no choice but to seek greener pastures. However if more incentives, investments, and performance measures were in place; employees would feel more valued in their organisation; they will feel that the work they put in that contributes to the success of the organisation is noticed and appreciated.

As a business it’s important to engage your employees, this ensures that are productive. When there is a high level of productivity, your business objectives are easily achieved and if you give back to your employee in forms of rewards and learning and development opportunities. They will remain loyal to your organisation and as a result you will automatically have a low turnover of employees.

So as you implement your strategies for 2016, remember that it’s people who make a business and in order for that business to remain successful, you need to P.E.E. Promote… Empower…. and Encourage your employees.
